CG and I went into town this morning for our weekly doner plate. (Small plate,
add feta, sauce ohne knoblauch, freshly baked flatbread. Yummmmm.)
Afterwards we wandered about the shops, I looking in the windows at jewelry and nick-nacks,
CG searching for new post cards. I stopped at my favorite shops and spotted a few things of interest; a woolen mouse, lacy white snowmen to hang on the Christmas/winter tree, lovely little flower fairies~also to hang on my tree (Spring fairy tree ~ how about that?).
CG headed home with six weeks' worth of new correspondence materials while I returned
empty handed. I just couldn't decide what I wanted most. It's tough when you
have to decide; so easy to just take it all.

Later I got to thinking about how the Germans like to stockpile wood. Not sure why they do it. Maybe it's soothing to pile the bits and pieces all up and get it organized. Maybe it's a carryover from leaner years. Seemed to me that it was similar to the urge to collect things.
Yes, my interests are not practical ones; mainly they are rather fanciful. But the urge to collect and save and the evidence of standing piles scattered about seemed to me to be the same.
During our recent move we frequently questioned why we
had 'stockpiled' so much stuff through the years.
