Other rooms included jungle and desert plants. One of my favorite rooms included orchids and other exotic flowering plants. I can't get mine to bloom at home, so I'm impressed when I see these plants doing well in other places.
That's where we found the turtles. At first they looked like yard art....but then I noticed little legs moving and slowly one turtle climbed over the top of another. He stepped on the head of the turtle beneath him and got so far then just stopped. Bet the turtle underneath wasn't thrilled.
The botanical gardens are located at the Nymphenburg castle/palace. You can view of it in the background in one of these pictures. They had a huge park with trails and benches (of course) that stretched on for at least a mile. The day was pleasantly warm-ish so many people were enjoying getting outdoors.
A couple of ladies brought bread to feed to the swans. They were very popular. It was nice to watch all the swans and other birds as they gathered around to get their share.
It's amazing how large the swans are! It reminded me of the time we visited a park in Nashville when the girls were young and they were very hesitant about approaching the geese that hung out there. Well Yes! Sometimes those birds can be pretty aggressive.
Turned out to be a very nice day. (Monday, 17 Jan 2011). ~M
