Hello, I'm back. It has been a while since I've posted to this blog. Actually, I intended to end this blog and turn it into a book. I did end the blog, began a new WordPress blog then dropped out of that one. When the "blogger's itch" hit me, I thought to revive the WordPress blog, but discovered that it had disappeared!! So, that brought me 'round to this blog.
Actually, looking it over, I realize that I really like the template of this blog. It fits exactly my current environment--the rain and the mountains. So, it feels comfortable to return.
Below are several pictures taken from last Sunday's hike:
This is a view of the Loisach River, taken from one of the covered bridges. It was early (7 am) on a cool Sunday morning and I was on my way to check out the trails on the Kramer, located across the river from the side of town where we live.
How about this sign? Pretty neat, isn't it? Which way to go?
Yes, let's go to the left towards Grainau.
Lovely views along this route. Nice wide path so far; shady and sunny both. Ah! to be outdoors away from the noise of people and traffic. I'm struck by the quiet as I walk and sing/hum to myself (softly, of course) and let my thoughts wander. A walking meditation exercise.
Yes, I decided to head towards Stepberg where there is a hutte (of course)--but, unfortunately, I never made it. First the path was uphill, which wasn't so bad, then it turned narrow. That was OK, but along with narrow and uphill were also raised tree roots and such, which made walking pretty tricky. I continued carefully watching my step--catching myself each time I tripped on a root or rock or slipped at the edge of the trail, determined to reach the hutte. The sign didn't say how far it was, which was unfortunate, as that would have been a warning. I continued along for about 30 minutes and the trail wound its way switchback-style up the incline until eventually I decided I had best turn around and head home.
On my way back down, I passed at least 20 people headed in the other direction. I hope they reached the top, but I was glad to be heading downhill. Stepberg will have to wait until another day/time when I am better prepared.
