Here it is, that old, familiar waiting time again. There are days, weeks, even months when the time simply zooms along and it's difficult to keep track of what's going on and who is coming and going. Times like this summer as we settled into our new home and I adjusted to my new job. I traveled to Florida in the Spring, New Orleans, Washington, DC, Richmond and Ft. Bragg, NC in a whirlwind of movement back and forth across the Atlantic ocean. Jim and Nancy Horner visited for a very lovely weekend. The topper to all the activity of the year was our Thanksgiving weekend visit -- completed without jet lag! [amazing]
But now things have slowed down and I have gone into waiting mode. Waiting for Hannah to arrive. Waiting to find a Christmas tree. Waiting to visit the Christmas markets. Waiting for the skiers and snowboarders and others to descend upon our sleepy village.
Of course, there's an art to waiting. One must cultivate the reading of good books. Nowadays one can add the discipline of watching for new blog postings or checking one's Facebook wall for news and events. Fortunate ones will find themselves an advent calendar to mark the days leading up to Christmas. I have certainly enjoyed watching the Jacquie Lawson advent calendar on my computer screen unfold each new day. Every morning I check it out when I first get up and then again in the evening before I retire I look again. What a pleasure to watch while I wait! Then on the brighter days, I enjoy passing the hours stitching small projects (some to become special gifts). ~M
Mother, happy waiting! I'm ready for the waiting to start, but have to finish all the Christmas activity first!
