Watching winter storms
This has been quite the year for winter storms, hasn't it? Esther was fortunate to travel from LA to Richmond without much effect from the storm that hit the midwest in early December. At the same time, Hannah only experienced a half hour delay in London while the plane was de-iced. That led to a late night for Chalet residents as they waited to receive a phone call from the local train station alerting them of HM's arrival, but all turned out well.
Once here, HM could snuggle into her bed while the storms outside raged. She was happy to oblige while also helping to set up the tree. Outdoors the storms were delivering lots of new snow for a future snowboard adventures down the slopes not only for HM but also for the many tourists descending upon our little valley community. For several days all of Europe was embroiled in travel nightmares....until the weather changed and the snarl of travelers loosened up and Europe breathed a sigh of relief and the Christmas markets achieved success now that the shoppers and merrymakers could get on with their celebrations.
But then on Christmas Eve, word came of a winter storm headed towards the Southeastern US states. Of course, Greene girls were out there traveling. Emily headed South so as to position herself directly into the storm's path while Esther/Charlie took a short jaunt Eastward. Chalet residents turned to reading news reports on the raging weather pounding the East Coast and stranding travelers from North Carolina to Virginia to New York City.
Hannah hit the slopes once again and pondered her [so far] good travel fortune, for it seems that she will have good timing as she departs on Thursday headed to NYC. [runways cleared, flights resumed, etc.] Chalet residents certainly hope that is the case. ~M
